In 2024, we worked with Bournemouth University on a research project, looking at minority groups experiences of domestic abuse and what support is needed. We are excited to share that the academic article has been published!
Our Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Service worked alongside our partners, STOP Domestic Abuse to support Bournemouth University with research exploring the experiences of disabled, LGBTQIA+ and black and ethnic minority victims of domestic abuse. There is little research on this topic, yet we know that abuse happens to all types of people. It’s important to acknowledge that everyone has different needs and we need to ensure that specialist services are equipped with the skills and resources to support those seeking help.
We really valued being a part of this research project; ensuring that victim and survivors of domestic abuse had their voices heard, and hopefully will shape how services are organised in the future.
If you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can contact us or STOP Domestic Abuse.
