Domestic Abuse and Life Limiting Illness

Posted on 15 October 2025

Yellow Door and the Diversity and Inclusion team (DIA) were involved in the ARC Wessex Domestic Abuse and Life Limiting Illness study. It’s goal was to shed light on what it is like for people living with a life limiting illness who are also experiencing domestic abuse.

As a response the DALLI Toolkit was co-produced involving people with lived experiences, specialist services (Yellow Door), hospice staff, social services etc., who worked together to design a toolkit with practical advice, resources, a quick reference guide and so much more to help professionals identify, ask about, and respond to domestic abuse in the life limiting illness context.

Last week, our DIA service manager Avril was invited to join the ARC Wessex team to introduce the study at the ARC NIHR Wessex conference at the Utilita bowl, where they showcased the impact this study and toolkit has had over the past year since launch. We were really grateful to provide insight as a specialist domestic abuse service as this directly links with our DIA service.
