🌟 Peer Heroes Competition: Be the Change. Lead the Way 🌟
Do you want to make a difference in your school and your community? Are you ready to stand up against stereotypes, promote respect, and become a positive role model for others?
The Peer Heroes Competition invites young people to get creative and speak up about gender equality, respect, and positive masculinity. Through powerful messages, bold ideas, and inspiring actions, we’re looking for entries that help tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) and challenge harmful attitudes.
Whether it’s a video, poster, podcast, artwork, spoken word, or another creative idea – if it gets people thinking and talking, we want to see it!
What’s It All About?
- Understanding what VAWG is – and why it matters
- Spotting harmful behaviours and stereotypes
- Challenging misogyny and toxic masculinity
- Promoting kindness, fairness, and equality
- Showing where people can turn for support
Who Can Enter?
Open to all students at Swanmore College – year 11s can enter but you need to be able to come back in September if you are successful to accept your reward! You can enter as an individual or as a group.
Examples of submissions:
A skit or scenario that challenges sexist attitudes or harmful behaviours.
- A peer interview discussing what respect in relationships means.
- A mini-documentary exploring the impact of misogyny in schools.
🎨 Posters or Visual Campaigns
- A campaign poster encouraging peers to speak out against gender-based violence.
- Illustrated messages promoting positive masculinity.
- Infographics about spotting and stopping harmful stereotypes.
🎙️Spoken Word or Audio Projects
- A recorded poem or rap that addresses respect and equality.
- A podcast episode discussing the role of boys in ending VAWG.
- A radio-style PSA (public service announcement) encouraging safe, respectful behaviour.
📝Written Pieces
- A letter to peers about the importance of challenging harmful behaviour.
- A fictional story that highlights the journey of a “peer hero.”
- An article or blog post that unpacks the meaning of healthy masculinity.
- 💻 Digital Projects
- A slideshow or Canva-style presentation on respectful relationships.
- A social media campaign concept with sample posts and messages.
- A webpage mock-up to support students affected by sexism or abuse.
The key requirement is that the submission is created by young people, for young people. Entries can be submitted individually or in small groups, and creativity is highly encouraged.

We are offering regular virtual drop in sessions to help support you in your competition entry. Please join in with any of the drop in sessions below. You can join at any time and stay for as long as you like or just pop in to ask a quick question.
Creation
Get creative and use your voice to inspire change! Enter the Peer Heroes Competition by designing a powerful piece, like a poster, video, poem, or artwork. Anything that promotes respect, challenges stereotypes, and supports positive relationships
Completion
Submit your entry to star@yellowdoor.org.uk by 12th September to be in with a chance to win. Winners will be announced the following week and celebrated by your school and Yellow Door!
