What a busy year we have had at Yellow Door! Within the first month of 2022, we had over 362 referrals into our services. And the year didn’t slow down!
One of the things we are proud to share from 2022, is that we worked closely with our corporate partner, Gentian, a dynamic local property developer with investments across Hampshire and the wider UK. We spoke to Nick, Managing Director of Gentian and Nicci, CEO of Yellow Door to learn more about the partnership, this Christmas.
Hi both, most important question first up – What’s your favourite Christmas film?
Nick – “My favourite Christmas film is Elf – I’m a huge fan of Will Ferrell.”
Nicci – “My favourite Christmas film is Love Actually, always makes me feel ready for Christmas.”
Nick, can you tell us a bit about why Gentian chooses to support Yellow Door?
“We want to ensure that, alongside our success, we also give back to the communities local to our developments and offices. We’ve been supporting Yellow Door since 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. We decided to get involved as we were appalled by the news of the rise in cases of domestic abuse due to the lockdowns and wanted to do something to help. We decided to partner with Yellow Door by providing financial support in the hope that this would help the team reach more people in need.”
And how has this partnership benefited Gentian?
“The whole team at Gentian feels very proud to be supporting Yellow Door. We’ve been able to give practical property advice to Yellow Door helping with landscaping plans for the sensory garden project as well as more general planning and surveying advice which I’ve found very rewarding. It’s good to be able to share our property knowledge in a practical way to benefit others.”
Nicci, can you talk about how the support from Gentian has benefitted Yellow Door?
“The support that Gentian has offered has exceeded our expectations. The financial support makes a huge difference by helping us to reach more people who need our support. This has been at a time when demand for our services has increased by 182% since pre-pandemic. Covid-19, lockdowns and the cost of living crisis over recent years has increased the risks for victims/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Nick and his team have also offered their expertise in areas such as garden design, planning, property development, public relations which has been of huge benefit. Thank you for your ongoing support.”
This year, we have supported over 4,200 adults and young people who have been impacted by domestic and/or sexual abuse. The contribution that corporate supporters like Gentian make to our service and our service-users is invaluable. They help us to continue supporting more local people in 2023 and beyond!
