‘a space’ art’s Exhibition in Support of Yellow Door

Posted on 29 June 2026

In 2022 one of our community supporters, ‘a space’ arts, launched a creative fundraising project as part of their International Women’s Day programme. The project, a free, participatory art exhibition held at Gods House Tower, was designed to celebrate women and female artists around the world, sharing their creativity and influence while inviting viewers to share their own experiences. Over two years and across two International Women’s Day exhibitions, ‘a space’ arts raised £2,815 in aid of Yellow Door.

The exhibition invited women to submit an A4 artwork inspired by a female artist who has influenced their practice.

We received 100 artworks from women around the world and had over 1000 visitors to the exhibition. We were blown away by the positive response. It was such a success that we repeated this project for the next couple of years.

Following each exhibition, the artworks were sold through a silent auction, with proceeds shared between the contributing artists and Yellow Door. We spoke to ‘a space’ about their experience of running the project.

Why did ‘a space’ choose to support Yellow Door?

When we were planning our International Women’s Day events back in 2022, Yellow Door felt like the natural choice. Our project was to support, platform and celebrate women, and with that in mind we couldn’t think of a more fitting organisation to partner with than Yellow Door.

How did you find the experience?

The whole experience was hugely rewarding; we met lots of artists in the city who we hadn’t met before, learnt more about the impact of female artists and raised a substantial amount of money for this brilliant cause. As a fairly new venue at the time this project was one of our first collaborations of this kind and really set a precedent for us working in this way. Having Yellow Door as a partner grounded the project in something really important and impactful, while also being celebratory and creative.

How does it feel for ‘a space’ to have helped people impacted by abuse, access life changing support?

Knowing that an event or project that we’ve put on is going to positively impact the lives of people who have been affected by abuse is hugely rewarding. As a charity we believe that art can affect change and inspire hope, and supporting organisations like Yellow Door is one of the ways that we can help to make that happen.

What would you say to people considering fundraising?

Fundraising in this way is a brilliant way to engage with your audiences. We find that a lot of our audiences find joy in seeing their work, creativity, money, or time go to a good cause. Working collaboratively too is a great way to strengthen your organisation, think differently and achieve more.

Thank you again to ‘a space’ arts for their innovative approach to supporting Yellow Door. If you are interested in fundraising in aid of Yellow Door, or if your business would like to partner with us, please get in touch.
