2026 is the 115th year celebrating International Women’s Day. This year’s theme was #GiveToGain, emphasising the power of reciprocity and support, something we come across a lot here at Yellow Door. The IWD website points out ‘When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise’ and this can’t be more evident in the support Yellow Door has seen this year.
Every year Yellow Door runs an International Women’s Day banner campaign in March across our social media. For another year running, we’ve had a wonderful uptake from local organisations, charities and groups sharing short messages of support that align with Yellow Door’s aims and values: Collaboration, Compassion, Integrity, Inclusiveness. Below is a quote from one of our corporate partners, Sparks Commercials, you can read their full message on our Instagram page here.
“At Sparks Commercials, we are deeply proud to stand alongside Yellow Door and to support your mission in any way we can. This partnership is not about recognition, but about respect — for the vital service you provide, the women you support, and the courage it takes to do this work consistently and with such integrity.”

We would also love to share with you some outstanding supporters who took on the challenge of fundraising for us this International Women’s Day, helping us continue to provide our services across Hampshire.
CBRE ran a quiz in their office, kindly hosted by Michael Brooks from SpeedQuizzing, during the lead up to the day for their colleagues, with a raffle prize and a trophy (right) for the winning team. The Southampton branch raised £88.50!
University of Southampton’s Biological Sciences Society also ran a bake sale raising £168 and Trago Lounge in Portswood hosted their regular Monday night quiz raising £115 for us. The C.W.U Wessex South Central Region of Royal Mail office also collected donations of new toiletries for our service users.
Annie at The Barbell Division, planned a day of active workshops, and talks on strength in menopause, the importance of sleep and women in business. They also ran stalls selling art and coffee, and a raffle involving many local businesses. They managed to raise a whopping £1000! See photos below.
We are so thankful to our community, our fundraisers and everyone who supported their events.
