2025 is Yellow Door’s 40th Anniversary and we have been marking the occasion by recognising the breadth of the work we do, the impact that we make, and most importantly the incredible journey that our service users go through.
We have done this through events and initiatives such as our STAR Project Mascot competition and the Yellow Door Art Exhibition. During August, the winner of the STAR Mascot competition was announced named ‘FAB The STARLight’. FAB represents kindness, confidence, success and proactivity. FAB is currently being brought into physical form and will soon be making an appearance in Schools around Southampton.
We also held our art exhibition ‘Telling my story: From Darkness to Light’ at God’s House Tower which aimed to illustrate how through the support we offer, service users are able to reclaim their identity and transition from a place of darkness to that of light.
We are proud to now share with you the new Yellow Door Impact film.
This film was designed to demonstrate the impact of our work, described by those who have used our service. As an organisation we were moved and humbled by Sarah and Louie who shared their stories during the production of this film, and stand in awe of their courage, articulation and honesty. This is a sentiment that we share about all service users accessing Yellow Door. With the help of Big Picture Charity Films we hope that we have created an emotive yet hopeful visual depiction of the arc of improvement that many of our service users make, in their recovery from abuse. Thank you to everyone involved.
